First Fridays fans, are you ready to get outdoors and have some good, green fun?
The May First Fridays Green Day Celebration—May 3 from 5-9 p.m., centered on the courthouse lawn—is jam-packed with outdoor events and green activities to pick from. Choose your own outdoor adventure at this environmental extravaganza; get in on the free tree sapling giveaway, participate in outdoor activities, shop for outdoor and summertime gear, and learn about the environment and sustainability through an assortment of fun and informative booths and programs.
Presented in collaboration with the Goshen Shade Tree Board and the Goshen Department of Environmental Resilience, the Green Day Celebration features an awards show and live musical performances by Goshen Elementary School choirs, Nayo Ulloa, and Goshen’s very own Indie Rock stalwarts, Shiny Shiny Black. Downtown Goshen bars and restaurants, along with a tantalizing array of vendors and trucks trucks, are on-hand to serve First Fridays revelers a wide selection of great food and drinks.

Explore Downtown Goshen at the Green Day Celebration to find a vibrant range of displays and presentations, outdoor activities, great eating and drinking options, sustainability awareness events, live entertainment, and kid-approved, family-friendly festivities. The First Fridays petting zoo is on-hand and interactive booths teach kids about the environment and the many natural wonders right here in our own backyard.

- The Goshen Department of Environmental Resilience presents a host of activities including a tree and t-shirt giveaway, a career and information table, and a backyard habitat learning session.
- HartWood Treecare presents a tree climbing safety demonstration.
- Trees for Goshen conducts a tree raffle.
- Americorps Goshen presents a bike valet and information booth.
- Wellfield Botanical Gardens presents a seed identification and tree habitat learning session.
- The Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College presents live reptiles and amphibians for demonstration.
- The Goshen Public Library highlights books about trees, and Arbor Day, and presents story readings.
- Elkhart-South Bend Aquatic Biology presents live fish and demonstrations.
- The Green Bee will be on-site featuring their sustainable home and health products.
- Steve Shantz presents information about shiitake mushrooms and acorn planting.
