Downtown takes to the streets for a two-day festival to celebrate the start of summer — because a party this fun can’t be contained in just one!

Friday, June 3 • 12 to 9 p.m.
Saturday, June 4 • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visit Downtown Goshen shops and restaurants out-of-doors and on the sidewalks to take advantage of summertime promotions and specials.

Children’s activities, food vendors, a beer tent, and live music on the First Fridays stage promise something entertaining and tasty to usher in the sweet summer season.

On Friday, look for educational activities for families hosted by Elkhart River Restoration Association. The ERRA along with the Elkhart County Soil & Water Conservation District and the City of Elkhart’s aquatic biologist will share information about local wildlife and regional conservation efforts.

New, Family-Friendly Tent

Goshen Health Systems is sponsoring a dedicated space for mothers and those caring for children. The tent, located on the 100 block of East Washington Street, offers private areas for nursing mothers, changing tables, and complimentary diapers and wipes. A First Fridays attendant will staff the tent to provide additional support to families.

Art Exhibit: Franklin Boggs

Stop by the museum to see our exhibit in commemoration of Memorial Day and Independence Day: paintings by Franklin Boggs (1914-2009), a Goshen native who became famous for his paintings of medics working behind the lines in the South Pacific in 1944.

The exhibit opens Saturday, May 28, and continues through August. The exhibit can be viewed during regular museum hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Boggs, a 1932 graduate of Goshen High School, studied art in Fort Wayne and at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, before painting post office murals for the WPA and then paintings for the TVA project.
