Summer—just like Lenny Kravitz sang—”aint over ’til it’s over,” and with that in mind Downtown Goshen, Inc. is excited to announce the September First Fridays Savor Summer Showcase, Friday September 1 from 5 – 9 p.m. Revelers of all ages are invited to this ‘sayonara to summertime’ soiree—a sampling of everything good about the warmer months—for one last chance to celebrate First Fridays in downtown Goshen and enjoy all that summer has left in its tank.
Planned festivities for September’s Savor Summer Showcase include a roaring demonstration—sponsored by Eby Ford—of Ford Mustangs along Main Street, dance performances, a summer-to-fall fashion show, warm-weather activities for the young and young at heart, shopping specials, and live music from Goshen’s own Los Ortega band.
Participating restaurant specials, food trucks and vendors serving up eats and treats from around the world, and the First Fridays beer garden are also in the mix for the Savor Summer Showcase, and participating businesses and retailers are on-board with special deals, promotions and in-store events in honor of the summer-ending First Fridays extravaganza.
“Once we get into October, our First Fridays events are planned for the indoors,” said Amanda McMahon, Director of First Fridays. “We really wanted to do something special with our September First Fridays, to use it as an opportunity to make sure we get every last ounce of warmth and sun that we can before it’s time to bring out the fall clothes. That was our inspiration for the Savor Summer Showcase, it’s a last chance to grab some more summer before it’s too late. We’re excited for this one, we’ll have a bunch of awesome Ford Mustangs on display, great live music and entertainment, activities, shopping specials and great food and drinks. It’ll be nice to see the community gather together and enjoy Goshen First Fridays, downtown, for one last summer hurrah.”
The Savor Summer Showcase summer-to-fall fashion show will spotlight outfits and ensembles perfect for transitioning between the summer and fall seasons. Goshen boutiques and clothiers I M SHE, The MAC, Kozahz Boutique, and Jules Boutique will all participate—with the help of the hair stylists and beauty mavens from Goshen’s Salon J and T’s New You—in bringing the First Fridays fashion show to life in the heart of downtown Goshen.
In addition, Fables Books—at 215 South Main Street—will host a First Fridays crafting event for kids and a Meet the Authors event during the Savor Summer Showcase. The First Fridays Kids’ Craft bookmark coloring activity, from 5-7 p.m.—sponsored by Triple P, an organization that promotes positive parenting, and the Horizon Education Alliance—will give kids the chance to create and customize their own bookmark. The Meet the Authors event, from 6-8 p.m., will feature a meeting session and book-signing with authors Naun Cerrato, Christopher T. Greenleif, and Amish Romance writer Mindy Steele.
